I know it's not considered very lefty-liberal to say that the government should spend money on itself, but I think a massive 9-figure renovation of the Houses of Parliament will be a good thing.

Not just because these buildings are becoming literally lethal, but because it would force a parliamentary relocation for several years. One of the top contenders for that would be Manchester -- and getting these people out of London for a while might be very, very good for us long term.

We could literally medically recondition the entire government to acknowledge that a country outside the M25 exits.

For a billion quid, I'd consider that a bargain.
