Is there a way within the fediverse to create something similar to a Facebook group? I have several groups I belong to wanting to leave FB. #fediversehelp

@lindawoodrow This question has been asked multiple times, so it is a feature that is really needed. As far as I am aware Friendi.ca does have a feature such as this.

Mastodon does have circles, it is in the list of items on the right hand side, I am not sure exactly how this works, but you can take a hashtag e.g #science and add other followers to that circle.

Can anyone perhaps elaborate on this, and what it does, how it works please.

@zleap @lindawoodrow hashtags don't allow for any privacy within a group or any admin or moderation. There's no way to control who is participating.
