Asheville, NC has a lot of bookstores and many of them are very good, but none of them is better than @firestorm.

The folks there are kind, welcoming, inclusive, and absolutely radical.

Their building is very near a police building, and its the closest I'll ever willingly get to a cop.

@jillrhudy malaprops is great. Their sister store downtown books and news is also great. But firestorm is in a class of its own.
