The fact that you can digitally-blind pretty much any enemy in #Cyberpunk2077 by resetting their robot eyes implies that most folks in that world, at least anyone who plans to shoot a gun, have robot eyes. The street preacher outside Misty's esoterica is one exception, and he talks about companies spying through them, so one wonders if they're basically offered to everyone for edds on the eddie so that the megacorps have surveillance in every skull.
One wonders if there's some kind of hugely-widespread disease that takes eyesight at young ages in this universe. One also wonders if such a disease would be an accident, or if certain parties might spread it deliberately, coercing the population into a new standard of normalcy until they accept the cyber-eyes, and replacement of their organs in general, as a necessary fact of life.
Stranger things have happened.
