not sure which variety of human you are accustomed to but most of the ones I've dealt with respond really poorly to being scolded, and even less well to being scolded unendingly over now unchangeable past actions.

but of course scolding props up your own sense of righteousness, a self-reinforcing behavior as they call it in animal training. like a dog barking at a fence.
