I've been tempted to switch to text-to-speech for my vlog's audio, because recording audio is easily the hardest and most draining part of my workflow, with editing audio coming in a close second.

Then I listened to some videos that are produced using text-to-speech.

At first, it seems perfectly natural. But then it makes a mistake. Then another. Never the same mistake, always different. And soon you've tumbled right into the deepest depths of the uncanny valley.

@Cal Yeah, I keep coming across YouTube channels that do that and the gig is usually rumbled in the first 30 seconds where there's just a pronunciation that's wrong or something just doesn't sound right and it just immediately turns me off and I turn the video off.

There's also the fact that your videos, you're actually funny, And text-to-speech doesn't do comedy.

@Cal @edwardclaytonandrew My favorite one was a place local to me when I grew up in the UK. It was spelled Boarhunt.

One of the kings, hundreds of years ago, used to hunt there, hence the name. However, we could always tell the tourists from the locals because the tourists would refer to it as it's spelled.

Locals pronounced it "Borunt".
