individualism really is the tool with which America drives us insane I think. when we're all so focused on being self sufficient and capable on our own we're free to get lost in the maelstrom of ideology that exists here. only comradery, mutual acceptance, and a desire for interpersonal harmony can keep us moored here, which is why American values work to snuff that out as soon as they can. the ideal of individualistic heroism is the poison pill to true liberation

@pataphysicker its a relatively recent cultural shift too, so much mid century art and literature of the 20th c. was lamenting how the loss of real community was bad for basically everyone
