I just got a secondary phone number in my childhood area code, which is generally lacking in available phone numbers, and the number has lots of 0s and only 3 unique digits, one of which is the first digit of the area code itself and is never repeated after that. I have had way too much fun picking random cities, deciding whether I liked the exchange or not, and paging through lists of potential phone numbers. I know nobody memorizes or cares about phone numbers anymore, but I still make a point of trying to find easy ones, even if I have to pick the wrong city. I try to stay within the province and recognizable area codes, but other than that, it can be anywhere.

@simon I love the last four of mine. They're so semetrical on the keypad.

@pixelate @simon I wish I still had our first landline number. Start from almost the bottom, go straight up, turn to the left, go all the way up and across, then down a little bit. I would have had it ported, but I didn’t know they were going to disconnect it when they did. This was in 2004.

@BorrisInABox @pixelate @simon My cell number I have had for 20 years, it's a Vermont area code and I'm in New Jersey now which actually becomes an issue because VT is 802, but one of the NJ ones near me is 852.

@dhamlinmusic @BorrisInABox @pixelate Oh yeah, I can see how people might get confused there. I've noticed that people in smaller cities and towns also get very confused about area codes. When I first moved here, 778 and 604 were the Vancouver area codes, but Nanaimo was pretty solidly 250. At least 50% of the time when I gave my 778 phone number to people, I'd have to repeat it because they'd already typed in 250. There were also people who couldn't call my cel number because it was long distance from Nanaimo to Vancouver. I'm glad I didn't cave and change my number; it's also a good one.
