A reminder that broadband-from-space isn't about bridging the global digital divide or serving poor people. It's just another for-profit enterprise that seeks to exploit a public commons for private gain.

@JohnBarentine It's better than the Hunger Games current telcos are playing where:

• they choose to not build out service, or sufficiently provision existing towers with enough capacity, starving subscribers while still getting paid the same monthly (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon)

• refusing to build out fiber into the area but continues to advertise into the area (Google Fiber)

• selling ancient service that's still only at DSL levels but at highly inflated prices (AT&T, Hugh Net, etc)

@ShrikeTron I agree in that none of this should let terrestrial telecoms off the hook. And their regulators need to do a much better job.
