So if I repost something from a Threads account, and someone else's instance blocks Threads, do they just not see that repost? I'm assuming the answer is yes.

@simon The answer is indeed yes.

@quanin Yeah, then I'm going with "People can individually block threads if they want to; that's not my decision to make."

@simon That's an option. But depending on the users you have on your instance now I'd be prepared to see a lot of objectional content reported. Transphobia among other things is acceptable over there now.

@quanin @simon yup, what he said.

@munchkinbear @quanin Yeah, if that starts happening I'll have to start thinking about blocking it entirely. Someone would either need to follow a user who boosted objectionable content, or look at the federated timeline and see a post from a user someone else was following, and at the moment I don't have many people on here, maybe only one person whose account is actually in regular use. So until I start hearing that people want me to run this like a curated platform instead of a gateway that lets individual people decide what they want to see, I'm going to leave it alone, or at worst silence it so people can still follow the users they actually care about following. I don't follow many threads accounts, but the fact is that there are more than 0 people I'd like to follow, and I'd rather follow them on this account than switch to the horrible Threads app. And I didn't like someone else making that decision for me on my last instance, so I'm not gonna make it for someone else.
