Feb's list of "seasonal" veg for the UK:
(the "i" is for imports)
brussels sprouts, cauliflower, celeriac, chicory, jerusalem artichoke, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, parsnips, potatoes (maincrop), purple sprouting broccoli, salsify, shallots, swede, truffles (black) [i], turnips
bananas (Windward) [i], blood oranges [i], clementines [i], kiwi fruit [i], lemons [i], oranges [i], passion fruit [i], pineapple [i], pomegranate [i], rhubarb
It's pretty similar to Jan, to be honest. There's a lot I won't/don't use, and a lot I will, but not a lot that's worth buying in bulk and preserving in the "traditional" fashion. Fruit is pretty scarce except for rhubarb, which I'm not a massive fan of.

@neonsnake I love to roast a big one for lunch and eat it with some cream cheese and pomegranete molasses!

@BigTittyBimbo I find "root veg" quite interesting, in terms of what people like and don't - I'm not fond of sweet potato, or of parsnips, for instance. Swede, on the other hand, I love. The people I cook for are the opposite, so I cook all of it.
And I'm not totally sure that the difference in taste really stacks up in any meaningful sense.

@BigTittyBimbo lolll same here
I buy them sometimes in one of those "Bag Of Root Veg" that you find in the supermarkets, you know? Carrots, swede, parsnips?
I cook them in maple syrup/olive oil and dish them up on the other plate, but am careful not to let them end up on my plate.

@neonsnake yeah i know the ones! I do all my veg myself by hand bc money and also no risk I'm gonna accidentally eat a parsnip

@BigTittyBimbo lol no-one wants to "accidently eat a parsnip" that one is not prepared for lmao 😂
(I did, many years ago, when as a kid I was served what looked like a roast potato. It wasn't)

@BigTittyBimbo I think I ate them because "polite" (it was my Grandad's new girlfriend, and I was like 9 or fucking something stupid).
Spent a few years having to undo it with my mum along the lines of "no, I didn't actually like them, please stop serving them up"
Ratatouille was my other one - I literally cannot eat courgettes or aubergines, due to texture, and am very fussy about greasy onions and chunky tomatoes - like, makes me retch - so of course, that was a thing they got into for several years

@BigTittyBimbo mine was just fussiness - I don't think I'm nd , although I'm not sure (I've not been diagnosed one way or another, never really thought about it)

@neonsnake idk if its worth it in the UK, you have to either fit very specific """low functioning""" criteria or be very lucky with your assessor
