Great to see more people think and share thoughts on alternatives to the platforms we use as artists and private people!

Hopefully this new video by my friend @counivers can help spread the word to some new people.

He is a cool guy and learning so feel free to "roast" him either on his masto post or in the comments on Youtube.

My favorite part of the video is where he suggests that the two options you have in regards to Facebook artist page is trashcan or website!

Invideous (and in particular yewtu.be) has been very hit and (mostly) miss for me in the last few weeks. The Googlies are really pulling out all the stops to prevent people watching anywhere they don't 100% control and flood with ads.

Yeah the fun thing is that this video is about problems like that - there is a question in it about better alternatives to Youtube - I used Vimeo in the start but it was very limiting. Suggestions are appreciated!

Well, I have been very happy with PeerTube, and importing all my videos from YouTube was very straightforward and retained all relevant (to me) metadata.

If you haven't played with it yet, maybe it's worth having a go at (initially?) using it to mirror your YouTube videos?

@axwax @counivers @lislegaard I also have put all my content on PeerTube, I really like it but a couple of things aren't quite working for me....

I really want to have Podcasting 2.0 features for the stream and also if it worked for streaming it would be a very handy solution but I find Owncast just way better for that, with a nice layout etc.

Actual storage space will also be an issue for me soon. I'm on Linux/Yunohost and I'm really not a code guy so appreciate the simple interface with Owncast.

Yeah, for live streaming Owncast beats PeerTube hands down.

No idea about this Podcasting for cool kids business, I just do it the old school way - in fact I've subscribed to your PeerTube channel in my podcast client of choice quite some time ago:
