Broke out my watercolours again. This is my first attempt at a composition that's not copied from anything. I did use "how to draw lilies" guide as a reference, but put the drawing together myself.

I can of course see all the mistakes, but it's still better than what I've done before, I think.

I did consider not inking the outlines, but the existing ink marks* made it really difficult to see the pencil outlines. So inking it was.

And yes, I know no lily stem would actually have several different coloured flowers. We can just pretend some dastardly florist had their dirty mitts involved.

• a second hand sketchbook which I appropriated when the owner wasn't using it anymore. Why put all that nearly empty, nice paper to waste?

@Gnomeshatecheese @Fullycaffeinated those are most definitely lilies, so you win at drawing! nice shading on the petals.

I wasn't sure about the shading, I thought I maybe wasn't doing enough of it, but didn't want to go on and potentially make a mess of it.

(also nearly forgot all about it, until The Spouse came over and said "no shading on the flowers")

@Gnomeshatecheese @FeartnTired Takes quite a bit of practice. These weren't her first paintings. So give it a try if you want to and try to learn from each one.
