I'm learning a few things, despite being in that field for several years. To me it's a confirmation that controller-runtime / operator framework lacks of opinionated guardrails, bc writing an operator sounds easy, until you find it's not, the hard way.

I wrote also about memory pitfalls [1] and a versioning issue [2] but Ahmet's article covers it all more broadly with wise advices, not just for beginners actually.
