The far-right is continuing to push the narrative that Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana was engaging in Islamic terrorism.

Douglas Murray, who would best be described as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon with a private education, posted an 8 minute video for Twitter flat out saying that this was clearly a case of Islamic terrorism.

The possession of an Al Qaeda training manual is the sole basis of his argument.

Although Murray of course makes sure to also point out that his parents were Nigerian immigrants. As he has to appease the large chunk of his audience who insist that nobody with foreign parents and brown skin actually can count as British.

The kind of people who regularly post about 'Londonistan', and will look at the statistics of London being majority non-white in its demographics and declare "LONDON ISN'T ENGLISH ANYMORE!"

Despite those non-white people being born and raised in England.

So leaving aside the opinions of the legal experts who studied the case, sought his prosecution, worked with Rudakubana and compiled reports before his trial was due to start, the known evidence makes clear that this notion of it being Islamic terrorism is a deliberate lie designed to whip up hatred against innocent people.

Just as it was when it was spewed without even the flimsiest of evidence immediately after the murders.

The book Rudakubana was found to have a PDF of on his computer, was 'Military Studies in the Jihad against Tyrants: The Al-Qaeda Training Manual'.

It's been in circulation since 2004, and was even available for a long period through the website of book retailer Waterstones.

Although in the UK it is a criminal offence to possess a copy.

However the problem is that not only did the prosecution and the judge both accept that there was no religious, political, racial, or ideological motivation behind the killings. Rudakubana was raised Catholic, but had no religious belief himself.

But it turns out that wasn't the only book on killing that he had in his possession.

He also had documents on Nazi Germany, the Rwandan genocide, punishment methods used in slave plantations, as well as on atrocities in Somalia, Chechnya, and Kenya.

There were other documents found on his devices and at his home that weren't produced by Islamist groups, which detailed how to effectively kill people with knives, manufacture explosives and chemical weapons, and evade police capture.

As the prosecution pointed out, he was obsessed with death and murder, and was searching for documents on those subjects without motivation on any ideological ground.

Now I'm not surprised that Douglas Murray attempted to make that connection, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

His stock in trade is Islamophobia, and pushing the idea that Muslims are an invading force.

He's one of the few people that has been able to bring to a mainstream audience, 'The Great Replacement' and the idea that it's more than a fringe racist doctrine espoused by fascists and crackpots.

He's also not only written in White Supremacists Weekly (aka The Spectator);

"Whatever you might think of them, the AfD are clearly not Nazis or racists."

That would be the same AfD, who have such strong connections to and support of Nazis, that even Marine Le Pen's Front National has had to very publicly cut ties with them.

And of course Murray has previously gone as far as to try and link Islamist terrorism, to the use of preferred gender pronouns.

I really wish I was making that up.

What I am surprised at though, is how many media outlets keep putting him on as a public intellectual, and don't challenge him on things like this.

Although in this case, perhaps the police would like a word. As his video is blatantly an attempt at incitement, and spreading the kind of lies that saw mosques attacked in the summer.
