I saw a toot yesterday about billionaires regarding dystopian fiction as a business plan rather than a warning. π°
I started reading DUNE last night. While not a purely dystopian work, this passage resonated with that remark:
βOnce, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.β

There's never a Butlerian Jihad around when you need one.

I'm only on Chapter 3, so I've only seen the term mentioned. π
(Although I did ponder about Herbert's use of the term "jihad" long before it became part of the common vernacular and how many readers back upon release were familiar with it.)

@davidtheeviloverlord @lazysupper I think about Butlerian jihad as a concept way too often these days

@lazysupper The other one that comes to mind Γ lot is the basic economy lesson ; just like spice, money must flow, not that you need much to be well, but for all to be well, it must circulate permanently. The real threat to the economy are those who disrupt this flow (hoarders, liker billionaires, and disrupters who block it from circulating efficently in certain areas) :)
It's clear with this in mind how TechBillionnaires are a double threat :D
