People often ask me what software I use for making my graphics.

The answer is not very exciting: PowerPoint. No fancy apps that map out data - just good old handiwork.

I gather the etymologies by consulting etymological dictionaries and other relevant literature and then start designing.

@yvanspijk Surprisingly good use of the drawing tools. 😊

Also reminded of one non-fiction writer who uses Paint application to draw ships and submarines. Sometimes simpler tools allow better focus towards the contents.

@yvanspijk Mocht je ooit willen overstappen op een programma dat e.e.a. opslaat in een wat meer toekomstbestendig bestandsformaat, dan zou ik Inkscape willen aanraden. Vrij en gratis. Grote voordeel is dat je de plaatjes dan ook nog eens rechtstreeks kunt gebruiken.

@bartavi Bedankt voor het advies! Dat waardeer ik zeer. Iemand anders raadde het me ook al aan, dus ik ga het zeker eens bekijken.

Wat bedoel je trouwens met het rechtstreeks gebruiken van de plaatjes?

@yvanspijk Inkscape slaat het op als SVG, vectorafbeeldingen. Die kun je rechtstreeks gebruiken op internet. Zonder dat je bijvoorbeeld eerst hoeft te exporteren of iets dergelijks.
