Went to see 10 different EVs today, but my partner and I can't seem to agree on any of them being great. I'd probably still pick the Ioniq 5, but my partner doesn't like it. Maybe we just need to wait for the next wave of EVs 😅

@simonbs I’ve owned a Model 3. Never again will I fall for that hype machine. I tried an Ioniq 5 and couldn’t really justify the price during pandemic price gouging in US. Currently car free but am genuinely optimistic about the Rivian R3.

@davidvasandani I didn’t test drive any today. We’re currently judging mostly on interior and infotainment system. They’re the biggest factors for us. Kona was one of them and actually one of those we need to look closer into. I’ve mostly disregarded as “feeling old” but I’m starting to second guess that opinion. Same with Ariya.

@simonbs We felt the same way and ended up just getting a Subaru and going back to gas for now after having a Model 3 for a few years. Hopefully the next wave starts to copy the good parts of Tesla (powertrain, thermal mgmt) instead of continuing to copy the bad parts (anything in the interior 😅).

@danedeasy I agree! My partner thinks it’s a little too hard to get in and out of. I don’t agree with that. I do, however, miss Google Maps in it and I’m a little concerned with the vast amount of issues reported on the ICCU. All that said, I think it’s a great car!

@simonbs @danedeasy some cars can pass state of charge to CarPlay which allows mapping apps to be far, far better at routing. Unfortunately, this is limited to just a few brands at the moment; I believe just Ford and Porsche.

Kia and Hyundai cars can get routing information from your mapping app of choice via CarPlay and display directions in the cluster and/or HUD but they don’t have state of charge information coming from the car … yet.

@simonbs @danedeasy unfortunately I am not aware of a way to filter for that. I think this is the support page from Apple about the feature though: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-electric-vehicle-routing-iphc5e3a4b4b/ios

@edmn The Polestar 2 is waaay to crammed for me. Also, what’s up with only one cup holder? 😄 The Polestar 3 is slightly better but far from spacious enough and also out of my price range.

@namekkural I have! I think both the Elroq and the Enyaq are great cars. I think I’d buy an Enyaq in a heartbeat if it had Android Automotive. That would have been big plus in my book and it might have outweighed its other minuses.
