"Linear A" is the name given to an undeciphered language / writing system used on the Greek island of Crete between roughly 1800 and 1450 BC.
It evolved into "Linear B", which was deciphered in the 1950s by an enthusiast.
"Linear A shares many glyphs and alloglyphs with Linear B, and the syllabic glyphs are thought to notate similar syllabic values, but none of the proposed readings lead to a language that scholars can read."
