Clearing out my office this Sunday afternoon, this is the insight from the desk drawers: if you want to thank someone for anything, and you have the spoons to write an actual card, it’ll be kept. Years later opening it again will still have that good effect you wished it to have.

@kate this is so true. When I mention this to a person (when I find their card and thank them again if I’m still in touch) they can’t believe it. I’m glad you have good cards to find at this time.

@kate Many moons ago, pretty much my first 9-5 job, I took over the office of someone who was retiring. In one of the filing cabinet, I found a bra, a tiny one, alarmingly so.
Fortunately someone remembered there had been a trade delegation from Taiwan who had left samples of clothing they wanted to export.
But... why keep the bra? In a filing cabinet? Not under "B"? No-one seemed to think this was, at least, odd.

@kate I've kept a lot of old cards from years gone by and love rediscovering them. Sometimes they're from people who've passed on. When I read their card they're there with me again 💌

@kate being a teacher I get a lot of thank you cards. I used to put them in a box. (and unfortunately some have been lost over the years). But now, after several rough years, they are in a basket by the front door so I can be reminded, on a daily basis, that it hasn't all been for naught.
So yes, thank you cards mean something.
