In an Assassination mission, your team must find the named individual and kill them. Rendering them unconscious is not enough: they must be dead. Other kills don't count towards your mission score. #starcadre #ibmpc #msdos #cga

If you like games where you kill everything that moves, the Annihilation mission is for you. Hunt them all down, and leave none alive! In this mission, every kill contributes to your score. #starcadre #ibmpc #msdos #cga

The Hostage mission has a clear focus: find the named individual and get them out alive. Hostages need to be cut free; if your team doesn't have a blade you'll need to find one. #starcadre #ibmpc #msdos #cga

Rescue missions are subtly different. With multiple hostages to find, some of whom have useful skills, you can recruit the hostages themselves to help. You also score per hostage freed. #starcadre #ibmpc #msdos #cga

@cyningstan Your game makes me want to play this, - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Crusade_(video_game) - again, for some undefinable reason. 👌 💝

@preferred And I'd love to play this too, being a fan of the Traveller TTRPG. I've played MegaTraveller 1, which would be ideal for my Book 8088 with its CGA graphics.

@cyningstan Just the character-generation for MegaTraveller 2 is almost a game or thrill in itself; or it was back then; I felt! lol. 👌

@preferred The character generation for MegaTraveller 1 is very familiar from the TTRPG, although apparently a good number of the skills aren't used in the game. I don't know if that holds for MegaTraveller 2.

The "death during generation" thing actually makes it more of a mini-game: you've got to make a decision on whether to carry on in service for more skills and rank, or get out while you're still alive.

@cyningstan You know, it was MT1 I played because it was calle shodani conspiracy or something, I don't know how I got it mixed up with MT2 which I've not touched, sorry. But some times we just made cool characters and saved them, which was a game in itself, I was like eight or nine at the time, we thought it was fun; and actually thought the real game was very difficult, so I should get WinUAE and some MT1 disks now, over thirty years later and try them, I think.
