While I'm on rehabilitation from the surgery underwent on January 6th, 2025, there is not much I can do. Besides resting and trying to breathe some fresh air sometimes I have to occupy myself with something a bit stimulating.
I went ahead and decided to move away (again!) my personal website from #BearBlog. I grew up dissatisfied with the service when I realized a few things: first it's hosted in the #US, second it's leveraging #Cloudflare. Two things I abhor. 😰
With the help of DNS Witch Collective (https://dns-witch.eu.org) I had my DNS zone entries aimed towards one of my little server I own. I also went back to the ultimate iteration of my website built with #Jekyll. I managed to implement proper pagination for the blog posts, updated some of the content and downloaded the images from BearBlog content delivery network (#CDN). When done, I could simply deploy and serve my website from my server running on #Debian, #Nginx & #AcmeSh for the #TLS certificates. 💻
It loads even faster, uses open source software and isn't tied to shitty companies. What can beat that?
