What's the #p2p state of the art for this problem? Specifically if you have an app on multiple devices and you want to e.g. keep its config-file continuously in sync across them. I know there's a bunch of new #local-first companies doing interesting stuff but i'm not familiar enough with them.

@powersource I use Syncthing (https://syncthing.net/) for ongoing synchronisation.
There's also Warp (https://flathub.org/apps/app.drey.Warp) for one-off transfers, though if two computers are already connected by Syncthing, it's easier to just put the file in a shared folder.

@greytheearthling yes was thinking syncthing too but I'm a bit sad if we've really gotten nowhere in like 10 years 😅 and going by how bad its apps are I'm not optimistic about how easy it is to integrate under the hood in an app

@powersource @greytheearthling
I've used magic wormhole a bunch of times for one-off file transfers.

@powersource What a coincidence! Tomorrow I am traveling to Colombo (about 52 miles from here) to hand over a hard disk to a photographer so I can get copies of a photoshoot he did about 10 days ago. I am not even sure about getting the disk back within the same day. It might take a couple of days :)
