@cadey That's Calvinism with double predetermination. STEM gets it by way of whiteness and eugenics which descend from Puritan replacement theology. I would consider much of "rationalism" a continuance of the Puritan trend of removing the mystical from religion. To some extent this overlaps with the paradoxical Anglo-Catholic trend of re-enthusing the mystical which pops up in various forms of the occult and new religious moments like Spiritualism, Thelema, Satanism and Wicca.
