I finally moved all of my messaging off of #Meta #Messanger and onto #Discord or #Signal.

I only have one friend that won't use #Signal for some reason, and I don't get it.

I dislike Discord because it has become the default for so many projects (#HeroicGamesLauncher in particular): all their information and help and troubleshooting gets lost with time passing, and the site itself isn't indexed. I have a particular hatred for a site requiring a account to even see the information.

(that said, well done moving from #Meta)

ESPECIALLY for Signal. I adore that app :)

@flwwhtrbt the captured web is a big problem. Walled gardens, etc...

AI makes the incentives even worse to wall off and put up defenses.

Search and information availability will continue to decline unless we can change the incentives to align with open information again.

Wikipedia would never have started in 2024, we need to create new open incentives.

Its sad, but all so true.

I try my best, I've abandoned all of those places (fb, IG, Twitter, Discord, even reddit - I just use the Stealth app from #droidify to scroll the site without needing an account) and instead stick to the ones which are by and for the people.

But gosh, Justin. It gets exhausting some times :(

@flwwhtrbt I prioritize leaving antagonist sites.

I have many on my watch list.

We also have to balance leaving a place to fester and being there to be a voice for those that don't have one.

I am still processing thoughts on this point.
