I honestly believe that a chunk of the anti-trans hate is a way for fascist christians to project the fear and rage of the experience of living in communities that do not address rampant sexual abuse and rape.

It isn't acceptable, I am not making an excuse. I wish those bastards would take some responsibility for themselves.

I grew up in one of those communities and I have seen the abuse firsthand. The patriarchal hierarchy is an important part of how the abuse happens because women and children are lower status, so they don't get to have bodily autonomy.

I am certain this has already been discussed. Just. Ffs. I'm having some feelings.

@melanie It feels obvious to me, a total outsider, that all of their paranoia about everyone being secret sexual predators was coming from a very dark and personal place.
