Not quite four years ago, I tried getting a life insurance policy. I tried a couple of different companies and after filling out applications and getting deeper into the process, both denied me because they felt insuring a trans person was too risky.

Not sure why but whatever.

So I did more research and found another agent to call. She’s a little older than me. I think by now she might be 65?… maybe 67 at most? Not sure.

But when I disclosed to her that I’m trans she didn’t skip a beat and was determined that she was going to get me insured.

She called me today for my birthday. I know she has automated alerts that let her know and usually I get emails from my insurance agent on July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day etc. But she’s never called. Well once but it was for business.

I told her I’m doing well. Still alive and we chatted for a bit. Then i asked if I could send a photo. When she it she was genuinely excited, said I looked great, and wished me well. I don’t know anything about her politics but she was nice and genuine.

And that was… well it was nice. That was a nice birthday present. ☺️
