"WUH COVID WOULD DEFINE A GENERATION?!"

You, sir or madam, have obviously not been looking at literally any data on children.

Extending Boomers backwards to 1940 makes a lot of cultural sense.

Joan Baez, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, David Crosby all born 1941.

John Lennon was born 1940.

You guys think they're WWII people!?

Naw, Cutting Edge of the Boomers.

Likewise, GenX going back to 1960 is a lot A LOT more sane.

Michael Stipe, Princess Diana, Michael J. Fox, Woody Harrelson, Duran Duran, Mike Judge would all be on the cutting edge of GenX.

Also Barak Obama (b 1961) would be a GenX president, which he legit was anyway.

Why do I think Barack Obama was GenX?

Because his entire method of coping with (and acquiring) power was to remain largely invisible. He had learned from an early age to be a chameleon in a suit.

When an animal grows up in the direct line-of-sight of a Much Larger, Much More Numerous predator -

Camouflage and diversion are the only options.

He was a ghost in the machine who gave good speeches.

This is why you all forget about GenX entirely.

Mutherfucker - my parents would lock me in my room and hit me across the face if I didn't Say It With a Smile.😆 💀

The preferred Boomer book on child raising was The Strong-Willed Child by James Dobson. In it, he outlines how his Defiant pet Wiener Dog didn't wanna get off the toilet seat so he whipped it with a belt until it Submitted. The Child Must Submit or s/he has The Devil In Him.

This man had a popular biweekly radio show for 40 fucking years and was considered a widely-respected expert on Child Raising by Boomers.

You learn pretty quick how to be invisible.

One reader nicely summarized that book as:

"Break prospects down with fear and abuse. Then, offer protection from that abuse when the prospect demonstrates total obedience."

Fucker's still alive, btw.

@subjacentish 🥺☹️f£%jng Focus on the Family🙄🙄& the enormous influence is still has; my evangelical aunt was huge fan & mixed it w/🇰🇵discipline from her childhood🙄recall Dear Leader type letters forced to write

thankfully didn’t have to stay past 12 as we wouldn’t be talking bc i’d be Amy F%£ing Coney Barrett X Brett Kavanaugh

sorry you had to experience that

thought we left all the child abuse back in the 80’s but no.. pardoning that guy who was sentenced 2 life sentences + means it’s all back😢

@Lorrrraaaaine North Korea and Focus on the Family - name a more Iconic Combination. :holdthepain:

I think the longest legacy of getting really Really Clubbed around and mistreated as a kid is that you grow up cagey and fragile in a way. You're always waiting for the next Turn people take on you.

So I guess in that sense you can't really ever leave it behind.

@subjacentish right😂

think the abuses i suffered were shorter lived in comparison to yours & thus impression was less hence remained naive until was reminded again by people’s behavior

nonetheless, traumatic events stay w/you forever

in 16th century they’d use children to bear witness to things & couple it w/trauma so they’d never forget?

humans can be so horrible & have zero interest in trying to suss out which camp people are in

cc community has made it easier to find💎🔮in the rough tho🖤
