@brentpatterson This is so many places, building something new is much more important to politicians than actually maintaining... (and getting adequate public transport funding? GOod luck)

Especially if building something new will directly benefit a local billionaire who could afford to build it on their own but who prefers to sucker the local government into subsidizing the project instead of using their own money. And the local population happily goes along because sportsball!
