advertising is nothing but a protection racket. it’s never really been “advertise with me and i’ll help you get the word out” but more “you’d better advertise with me or i’ll make sure no one knows about you”

and the more consolidated media gets, the more this becomes true. we’d all be better off if it didn’t exist at all
