going away to college is a good way to double the cost right off the bat, so that's a dumb choice
these days there are lots of engineering programs that are entirely or mostly online, "mostly" meaning you have to go do some labs in person. how programs handle this differs, sometimes it'll be a weekend thing for a few semesters, or maybe there'll be a "camp" during the summer you need to go to for a few weeks. nontraditional schedules are also becoming more popular
yeah it's not "the college experience" but if you want an education and a degree for cheap that's how you do it now. if the alternative isn't caltech or MIT nobody gives a fuck where you went to school anyway, as long as it's regionally accredited (not "nationally accredited" that's fake and gay)
