Monday mountain therapy. Chilly weather yesterday, but an enjoyable time in the lower forest. #hiking

I think it was around 20F at the base yesterday. Definitely Nalgene weather now that it’s cold enough for water to freeze easily. Harrington trail is a treat in this type of weather.

Here’s a short video of me walking in the snow. Acute listeners may hear a tree making cracking sounds, which I definitely paid attention to and kept moving. https://video.infosec.exchange/w/2Q6772pvW6msXYQ23oJnQk

Sounds wonderful. Glad your foot is getting better. Was this Wachusett Mt? Nice place.

@TimKStanton Yes, I opted for a lower elevation hike at Wachusett as temps were too cold for me for exposure at Monadnock. There is a 4 mile loop I enjoy here in fresh snow. It was a good workout for my current fitness/recovery. Foot hasn’t had any issues my last 2-3 hikes - not 100% but I can do 4-5 miles without any setbacks now. Still hoping for a short hike in whites sometime next month. My feet get sore more easily but that’s minor.

That’s good news about your foot. Yeah, definitely good to stay low these days— such a deep freeze up in the bigger mountains. I’m staying very local these days until we get past this frigid spell. Just now finished a local hike— my favorite go-to trail.
