Overhauling my feature #screenplay UNEARTHLY this morning. Everything changes but for the basic premise. Logline: "In 1962, teenaged aliens Rex and Calvin arrive on Earth to evaluate our planet’s suitability for a full-scale invasion. Previous drafts had teen aliens Cal and Rex enrolled in the local high school as cover. The story played out over weeks. There was a scene at the prom. Another at a basketball game. There was a man-eating monster involved. All this gave Cal and Betty plenty of time to fall in love. Now I'm stripping it down for budgetary reasons. Six teens, one night. Stranded in the woods near a lake, and there's a flying saucer. I think my biggest challenge is going to be preserving the love story. But hell, Romeo and Juliet fall madly in love in basically TWO scenes. So: all I have to do is be as good as William Shakespeare.
