@elplatt I discovered I had to turn off battery optimization on Android to install Signal, which seems as pertinent a fun fact to these times as joining a Mastodon server.

@elplatt Android OS's moderate battery life conservation policy disables some apps' background services including, as I discovered, Signal's activation code service.
