Dating as a teenager was hard, one of my girlfriends parents were very strict. I wasn't allowed in her bedroom, even though we'd been together for 6 months. They were also the type that refused to talk about sex... the abstinence kind.

One day when her parents were out, we went to her bedroom... Her sister grassed us up.

I was thoroughly told of by her dad when they returned.

I asked why.

He said, one day when you have a daughter, you'll understand.

I replied... how am I supposed to have a daughter if you won't let us go into her bedroom.

He wasn't impressed... he threw me out of the house.

We still got up to no good, we just had to do it in secret, at parties, in cars, outside.

We broke up a few months later, and because of her parents restrictive and repressive attitudes towards sex... She was pregnant at 17 with the next guy, because they had no safe space to go and had to resort to taking risks... and that included thinking the pull out method was safe.

My folks were no better... the entirety of the sex talk was my dad giving my a lift at the age of 17 and going 'I hope you're being careful'
