It may surprise some of you, but I used to be deep into the Apple ecosystem. I mean, I still am, but I used to sub to all the Reddits and keep up to date with all the news.
Anyway, there's nothing quite like being detached from a thing to see how mad it is.
Over on /r/MacbookPro there's a discussion on whether an M1 Pro Macbook Pro is still usable.
It's a four year old laptop. Yes, it's fucking usable. I'm typing this on a base level M1 Mac mini which is still an incredibly fast machine.

In fact, as I noted a couple of months back, this M1 mini is the second fastest Windows machine I've ever used. And that's with Windows running through UTM.
The fastest Windows machine I've ever used is my M2 MacBook Air, which also has Windows running through UTM.
It's not hard to see why Apple work so hard to 'upgrade' their chip marketing every year, when an M4 just sounds so much more capable than an M1. I mean, yeah, it is, but the M1 is still rock solid.
