@hanspetermeyer @hnom What a great story. The courage to step away from the game when you're on the precipice of making the NHL is incredible. In Canada the societal pressure that's placed on these kids is insane. To take step back and take some time to figure out if it's really what you want shows a lot of maturity that I wouldn't have had at that age.

Philpβs decisions βto step away, and then to step backβ show a depth of character that I believe all of us, but especially young athletes being groomed for the entertainment industry, should be paying attention to. Not unlike what Ken Dryden did in the late 1960s, and again in the early 70s. Not just replaceable parts in athletic/entertainment industry.
