The thing about media and the passive language they use.
They describe Elno's Nazi salute as 'a Nazi-like' salute, or he 'appears to' make a Nazi salute, or they call it a Roman salute.
And, yes, none of us can read minds so we cannot say for certain it is a Nazi salute - even though it's the exact same salute the Nazis used.
But that passive language provides so much cover. Next we will have fascists marching down the street, taking over, and the news outlets will be saying:
"Protesters dressed in far right costumes are protesting civilisation by staging a mock militant style coup in the style of a fascist takeover."
After that, they'll be saying: "How did we end up in a dictatorship?"

IMO he knew what he was doing, the question is, what was the motive. I think he saw that as ultimate trolling 'look I sneaked a nazi sulute in, the libs are like totally gonna have a meltdown teehee teehee'.
In all honestly, it's the type of dumb shit I would do, except I wouldn't do a nazi salute, I hope I'd be more like Lee Scratch Perry and say to the crowd 'do you want to see baby Jesus' and then when the crowd say yes, show them my penis.
It's totally in line with a shitposting memer.
Trouble is, he has shit loads of power and you can see how much he loved people chanting his name. That guy will be high as fuck right now on his own gas. We saw what that level of fame did to Michael Jackson. It totally screws with your head.
He is already pretty far removed from reality. I think he honestly believes the best thing that can happen for the people in the MAGAs hats in the crowd is his spaceship going to Mars. I don't think that will help them much. Plus Mars sounds shit, no atmosphere.
Will we see fascism like Hitler? I doubt it, it's going to be tough to kill 6 million in gas chambers in this day and age but I can totally see a brand new dystopia emerging. I just don't know quite how it will play out. Surveillance will be a big part for sure. I'll be keeping an eye on Balaji Srinivasan. He's the one that's best outlined techno dystopia. However, he thinks it's great...
