Question,
Can I make my Signal account anonymous if I registered before they allowed usernames? It's currently linked to my phone number, and therefore I never use it because I don't want to give it away.
I'll research this tomorrow, but if someone already did figured it out and wants to point the way, it would be awesome.

@TyrionTargaryen If you activate the username feature and go in the privacy settings to make sure the 2 phone number settings have "Nobody" selected, your phone number will not be shared with new contacts.
Contacts will however see the Signal name and profile picture you have chosen.
Additionally, your phone number is still associated with Signal in the sense that Signal knows you have Signal. Your account is still attached to your phone number. The username feature works a little bit like a proxy to hide your phone number from your contacts. There are also additional privacy settings you should look into to protect your IP address within Signal.
Signal isn't an app to be entirely anonymous online. However, you can use it without sharing your phone number with new contacts if you set it up correctly before connecting with them.
