With this new administration, I've been pondering whether I should auto-delete my toots after a certain number of days.

But I enjoy being able to search my old posts for reference - what I really want is to automatically make my toots private after a certain number of days..

@chris An archive's not as conveniently searchable, though. Especially since I help run my mastodon instance, I'm okay with it posts just being private*. If I were on one of the big mastodon servers, I might feel like having posts be private isn't enough..
