There's no way to recover this nation peacefully. Moreover, violence will simply result in extremely violent suppression by a people who are accustomed to dehumanizing those they disagree with.
All I see is a very fast slide to violent fascism and oppression, followed by economic and social collapse.
History has seen this happen too many times.
