The pockets on the brocade hoodie require work before I can finalize this pattern. The opening is too short, welt βwingsβ need widening, and pocket bag needs reshaping per this ugly hack I just made. This is why I test all of my newly drafted patterns with cheap fabric! #sewing #ElfkinCollection

Considering these pockets on the brocade hoodie more carefully, theyβre going to need to be horizontal rather than slant. Because of the bias opening at the front of the hoodie, thereβs just no room for a hand to get into a slant pocket on the narrow half of the front. Oh, well!

@elfkin If there was ever a case for "measure twice" it is in freaking welt pockets. (I intensely dislike having to sew welt pockets but love how one looks.ππ€·)

@justmichelle I find them tedious but not onerous. And certainly when testing any newly developed pattern, I do the pockets up at least once to ensure they work as intended. This particular design with its irregular front was a good reminder of why I go to the trouble of testing.
