You play them audio files of the same text, let's say the Lord's Prayer or the United Nations' Declaration of Human Rights, in let's say German, Icelandic, Lithuanian, Kurdish, and Hindi.

You explain to them that we know today that all these languages are related. They all sound so very different, it's very much counterintuitive, and yet. It took a long time to figure this out, and we're still figuring out the specifics because language is complicated. But there's no denying that they are all part of the same family.

Then you explain to them that that's the status quo with anthropogenic climate change - it's incredibly complex, decades of research went into this, we're still working out the specifics, but the basic fact is undeniable.
