I read a story of the new york times using AWS to run OCR on scans of all their old newspapers.
I believe that is the perfect use case for AWS.
They had a one shot project where they uploaded a bunch of images, ran stuff for a while, downloaded some text files, and then deleted everything off of AWS when they were done.
If you have some kind of continuous need for compute or god help you a continuous need for storage, you probably want to investigate owning at least some of your infrastructure.

@alienghic Absolutely, that is the best kind of project for this stuff. There are more repatriation stories all the time as folks realize that continuous/classic IT problems don't need to rent cloud at 2x+ the price.
