I'm looking at the degoogled options for my next phone. And not too expensive. I see mostly two options:
Except for the CMF, all these phones look quite expensive, so that would be my preferred option, but: security.
I don't have strong requirements in terms of security, e.g. I'm ok if there are vulns with phyisical access.

Afaiu the issue with cmf+eos is the phone is shipped as unlocked (ie. no integrity verification at boot)
I'm reading some claims that it's only bad in case of threats with physical access, but I'm not convinced: isn't it what rootkit are about?
Also, I'm not sure how the locking process works - if it uses a hardware key for signing, I guess it involves the manufacturer to sign the installed OS? So it's not something I could do by myself?

As I said, I'm not too picky on security, I can accept tradeoffs, but there's a minimum, and I try to evaluate how acceptable would be the "unlock" tradeoff
