Shouts to the Hunters Hill division of the SES who helped with the final clean up after a large branch from a liquid amber fell on my parents and their neighbours power lines in the big storm the other day.
Especially cool because my mum is an avid gardener and the SES went with her request to divvy up the trunk from the leafy tops so she could repurpose the trunk segments as garden bed edging. She's been doing this with fallen branches for a while. She'll make sure she has the requested butternut scones ready to go next time they come around.

Interestingly enough, mum learnt through this that the SES are essentially all volunteers. She thought that a significant chunk of them were paid, I guess like how we have paid and volly firefighters. I was wondering if this comes up often.
