No, that Apple’s and Google’s lawyers refused to trust Biden’s promise that he wouldn’t enforce the billion dollar fines for assisting TikTok—now a federal crime with a five year statute of limitations—for the five minutes that remain of his presidency is not something orchestrated by the Chinese government.

Pretty sure corporate lawyers are also going to interpret the “if you distribute TikTok you’ll get nuked to glass with fines” clause as applying to CDNs, data centres, and other hosting services. What are the odds that it’s phrased vaguely enough for it to be applicable to VPNs if you squint hard enough?
