I still don't personally care one way or the other if TikTok gets banned, but this really is a massive blunder from the Democrats. If Trump unbans TikTok, he gets to look like a popular hero to an entire generation. If he doesn't, then TikTok users will likely move to apps owned by Musk or Zuckerberg, where the algorithms are manipulated to spread right wing propaganda. Musk already helped sway the last election by buying Twitter, and now Zuckerberg is on Trump's side too. There's no winning here for the Democrats. It's bad decisions like this that make me think the party leadership is actively trying to lose.

@vulp Trump asked for the ban and the Democrats are out of power. The "best" Biden can do in your analysis is beg the tech companies to break the law on a promise that laws won't be enforced ... by the fickle guy who takes power tomorrow.
This is Trump's doing, and Trump's to undo. I agree the optics suck but this really isn't Biden's mess to step in.

@dannyman Democrats in Congress overwhelmingly voted for the "tiktok ban" bill and Biden signed it. They were not out of power when that happened, they held the Senate and the White House last year. Sure Trump proposed a ban four years ago, but what does that have to do with this current ban? Actually implementing a ban was fully under Biden's watch.
