I just saw someone on Bluesky quote “skeeting” a response to them, rather than replying. I was immediately reminded of all the terrible brigading I saw on Twitter, and how all the same affordances for harassment exist on Bluesky. It’s only a matter of time before it becomes as terrible as x-the-everything-app.

Platform design really matters.

@ben_hr obviously quoting lends itself to all the abuses you mention, but it also has more wholesome use cases, like when you want to boost something that has no CW but you want to add one, and currently the only way to do that is to mimic a quote toot (ivory lets you do this out of the box but i know you don't like ivory). and didn't rochko say quote toots are coming? or will the new ownership structure impact that?
