@quicheindustries Hey. Quiche is my default browser, and Kagi is set as search engine.
I pull down on iOS, type a search term. I can see the icon, and test search. If I tap that link, Bing is used.
Thanks.

@maique sincere apologies about that one.
Just recently a user and I realized that Spotlight generates search URLs based on Safariโs search engine, then send it to the default browser.
Basically I should change the app to overwrite search engine URLs with its own.
Will do my best to tackle that once I sort out a few ongoing emergencies ๐โโ๏ธ

@quicheindustries No rush, of course. Just created a Shortcut, one that calls a Drafts action, to do that.
It would be nice if iOS would honor the default browser in full, though, and just work as expected. Instead of forcing devs to work around silly stuff.
Thank you.

@maique Good you found a workaround! I guess you can also have your shortcut open qb:search?q=quiche%20lorraine
.
Tech wise, iOS doesn't have a generic, system-wide mechanism to ask an app to open search results, nor ask a browser app which search engine it's using.

@quicheindustries Oh, Iโm SO stupid! I had the action in Drafts doing just that already! Never crossed my mind to skip Drafts for the shortcut! Duh!

@maique I've done a lot of stupider things, including not catching this bug initially ๐
